With environmental factors becoming more prominent in all aspects of our lives, new applications are being found for Pneumatic Tube Systems.

Environmental systems are all aimed at moving a payload that presents a nuisance or hazard away from the area it is generated to a secure and contained single point for further processing. Environmental systems generally don’t use a carrier, but transport the payload directly in the transmission tube.

Quirepace introduce three different types of system, manufactured by Oppent of Milan, where the principal benefit is associated with improving the working and living environment.

The first is systems for moving bagged laundry within Healthcare premises, Hotels, Residential, Nursing homes etc. The principal benefit being that the laundry is transported directly to the processing area, without having to hang around in unsuitable areas where hygiene may be compromised.

The second type of system is for moving refuse. This may be combined with a laundry system within the same building, or may be a stand alone system serving a building, historic centre, residential development, or public amenity.

The third system is for handling and transporting organic waste. Based around a self-contained organic waste storage and handling unit, pneumatic tube systems can be used to transport the waste away from the food preparation area directly into a slurry holding tank. The end product is suitable for use in a bio-gas production unit and energy can be recovered.
